Help with streaming audio and downloads
Most computers will play an audio file with no problems. If you are having difficulty here are some tips.
- First (I have to ask) Are your speakers plugged in and functioning playing other sounds?
- Check your audio settings...usually by double-clicking the little speaker icon in the lower right tray. Make sure master volume and wave are not muted and have volume.
- Check the originating web page to see which media player is needed to play the file
- Some sites require specific audio software.
- Some of these downloaded players (like shoutcast) share bandwidth among users. They will request information about your internet connection speed. If you feel generous tell the truth. If you don’t want your computer bogged down by rebroadcasting audio tell them you are on dialup.
- Go to the originating site or the media players site for more specific troubleshooting.
